| FAQs Q: What are your store hours? A: We’re open Wednesday through Friday from 12am – 6pm, Saturdays & Sundays from 12pm – 5pm. We are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays to get the kids to ballet and soccer. Q: What is a 'subscription service? A: Basically with the subscription service you tell us what titles you want to read each month and we order them for you, earmarked for you, so you don't miss any of your issues! We keep them in slot with your name on 'em so if you're not in the mood to browse, all you have to do is walk in and pick up your weekly package, or if you live aways away, and only want to stop in once a month, the service guarentees your books will be waiting for you. In addition, you'll get free bags & boards with your comics and can purchase the Diamond Comics Previews Magazince for 50% off cover price if you choose! Q: How much does it cost to become a comics subscriber? A: It’s FREE! and mutually beneficial as it allows us greater control over our inventory allowing us to keep costs down. Q: Will you carry Manga? A: I think we're going to have to, aren't we? And we'll be happy to special order anything you want, including Anime DVDs. There is an overwhelming amount of material out there, and we are slowly familiarizing ourselves with it. This is definately one area we'd welcome your input, not only for new titles you've heard about and are excited about, but on your past all time favorites that maybe we can introduce new folks to. It might be great to have a bulletin board where you can post your favorites. Q: Do you buy comics? A: We are always buying comics! We ask that youcall ahead and let us know you are coming. We also ask that if you have a sizable collection that you make a list for us to look over. Please avoid bringing collections in on Wednesdays, as that is our busiest day of the week. There are couple of things you should be aware of before selling us your comics. There are two kinds of dealers out there. Ones who won't even look at your stuff and will buy whole boxes for $25 or pennies a comic. If there happens to be thousands of dollars worth of gems, toobad for you. Then there are normal folks like Neil and I, while obviously we cannot pay ya full guide price for the books, we're not hereto rip anyone off either. By and large you'll probably be able toget 20-25% of what we think we can resell it for. A quick note about resale value. Most guides tend to overvalue most books, for whatever reason. Truly collectable and rare comics are valued pretty accurately, but more common books tend to be inflated, and low demand tends not to be taken into account. Actual market value tends to come in right around 50% or so below guide, often times less. One of the best barometers of 'Actual Market Value' is Ebay. Logon, watch a couple of auctions over a couple of days and you'll have apretty good idea of your comic's value. We've got some pretty decent books hanging around and we see them sold on Ebay all the time for considerablly less than guide value. So if you come in with your stuff and we seem to be low balling you, we certainly invite you check out your alternative including Ebay, we don't to make any deals that leaves the seller goingaway uncomfortable or taken advantage of. However, if you don't havethe time to check a dozen places or list your stuff on Ebay, we think you'llfind Kowabunga a pretty good place to sell your books conveniently, easily and fairly. Q: Do you buy cards? A: We will not be buying magic cards. As a start up business it just a little too much work to keep on top of this market, that would enable us to make fair buys and sales. Who knows later down the line... Q: Will you be running card tournaments? A: The only tournament we currently run is Heroclix tournament on Saturdays at 12:30. We would love to run official tournaments for Magic the Gathering, so if you're interested in running or being in a tournament let us know so we can get an idea about whether they're viable out here. Q: Do you have an open gaming area? A: We currently have Open Gaming on Sunday afternoons, for whatever game you would like to play, I mean, as long as you think you can behave. Q: Does Kowabunga Comics sell adult material? A: A lot of stores will sell adult material 'special order', but our feeling is that this would not be an appropriate venue for this merchandise. |
